RYDE, HOUSTON’S PREMIER CYCLING EXPERIENCE, SPINS INTO THE HEIGHTS WITH BEAUTIFUL NEW FLAGSHIP STUDIO
HOUSTON, TX – January 26, 2023 — RYDE, Houston’s premier locally owned indoor cycling experience, is thrilled to announce the opening of its new flagship studio at 402 West 11th Street in the Heights in April, exactly eight years following its debut on West Gray Street in the heart of River Oaks. The 4,593-square-foot stand-alone building, designed by Boucher Design Group and constructed by O’Donnell Snider Construction, offers abundant on-site parking and dedicated bike racks, and is conveniently located just four blocks from the Heights Hike and Bike Trail.
The new studio will offer its signature 45-minute, full-body indoor cycling experience — delivered by industry-leading instructors and finished off with ice-cold eucalyptus towels that clients have come to know and love for many years. At RYDE Heights, clients can expect an elevated experience with a custom, immersive sound and lighting system, and nearly 50 top-of-the-line Stages SC2 indoor cycling bikes.
“Opening our new flagship studio in the Heights marks a significant milestone for RYDE and our team. After three years of hard work, passion, and meticulous attention to detail, we are proud to share RYDE with the vibrant Houston Heights neighborhood,” says co-founder Andrew Pappas, who launched RYDE in 2015 with co-founder Ashley Gooch. “The RYDE team is dedicated to pushing the limits of what a fitness experience can be. Our new Heights studio is a testament to that commitment, offering an unparalleled, high-energy indoor cycling experience in a stunning, expertly designed space. We are excited to welcome the Heights community to our new home and elevate their fitness journey.”
The interiors – designed by the RYDE team – represent the brand’s astute balance of sport and luxury. The glass-encased, cement-floored building boasts a decidedly more industrial aesthetic for the locally owned brand. Elements such as exposed support beams, walls of white brick, stone and plaster lend a sense of sophistication, while tailored details, a back-lit teal infinity logo, and a large hand-painted mural in the lobby offer contemporary and lively pops of color. The mural is a commissioned installation painted by Los Angeles-based artist Amber Goldhammer, who is known for her vibrant, layered graffiti and inspirational messaging, and it can be seen from 11th Street. Amber Goldhammer is represented by Christopher Martin Gallery in Houston, Texas.
RYDE Heights offers plush amenities to its clients, including spacious locker rooms with five showers outfitted with high-end Dornbracht fixtures; a blow-dry bar with Dyson hairdryers; and Aesop hair, body and skincare products for a truly luxurious experience.
Custom-branded RYDE apparel and sought-after fitness gear from brands including lululemon, alo and ASRV will be available for purchase, as will Specialized cycling shoes, which are also available to rent per class.
RYDE classes start at $32, with monthly memberships offering infinite RYDEs also available; first-time clients can purchase a one-week pass for $40. All purchases can be made online, in-studio, or in the RYDE app, and can be enjoyed at any RYDE location.
Founded by Ashley Gooch and Andrew Pappas, RYDE is Houston’s premier, dedicated rhythm-based indoor cycling experience. Since debuting in the River Oaks Shopping Center in April 2015, RYDE has delivered more than 20,000 classes and become well known for its industry-leading instructors and athletic edge that caters to all ability levels as well as to men and women equally. At the core of RYDE is a sense of community, and over the last eight years, RYDE has raised and donated more than $160,000 to local and national charitable causes.
